We, ladies, always want to look elegant, both in life and on the dance floor. One of the things that attract each of us as a magnet are fancy shoes. But how to choose the most suitable dance shoes?

The first important thing when you are choosing dance shoes is to forget your habits when shopping another footwear. Many of us often buy official shoes with the clear awareness that they are uncomfortable, sacrificing our comfort for good looks. However, when choosing dance shoes, this would be a big mistake. Remember that with these shoes you are hoping to dance a whole night and if you are not comfortable, you will want to take them off after a few dances.

But what do comfortable dance shoes mean?

The first thing you need to determine is how long is the length of your foot. In a separate article we have detailed how you can measure accurately the length of your feet and determine your shoe size according to the size table - view the article.

Once the shoe size is determined, you should determine the desired heel height. If you do not walk on high heels in your everyday life and you are about to buy a first pair of dance shoes, we recommend that you start at a height of 2-2.4‘’/ 5-6 cm. Even if in principle you are confident on high heels, if you have not been dancing for long, we recommend that you choose a lower heel 2-2.4‘’/ 5-6 cm. If you have been dancing for several months now, then a 3’’/ 7.5 cm heel is suitable for you or even higher if you feel confident. High heels are really stylish, but dancing on them is more difficult than walking and they are suitable for a little more experienced dancer.

Another thing that you should bear in mind is how tight the footwear is. We advise you to wear a little tighter shoes that will feel tight only the first few times you will be wearing them, but then they will feel perfect. This is because the straps of dance shoes tend to loosen slightly and if they feel loose at the beginning, you will soon feel unstable by your leg moving into the shoe. Here we also include the stable tight heel, which also keeps the foot fixed and therefore makes dancing both more pleasant and safer.

The footwear material may also be different. We have seen from our experience so far that the satin-coated shoes are more durable than those with leather coating because leather is more easily deformed (rubbing, scratching or cracking) when dancing. The inside of most dance shoes is made of leather, whether natural.

Here comes the turn of the favourite subject of all women - the vision. There is currently a huge variety of colours, gem decorations and many other things that make the footwear more beautiful. We recommend that you have at least one pair of nude shoes that works with your skin tone in your collection, because they go with any outfit and visually lengthen the legs, making your movements look more elegant. Black footwear is suitable if you have a black part of the outfit (black top, black leggings, black belt, corset or at least some black accessory).

If you have already bought the shoes of your dreams, but feel the heels thinner than your comfort, you can try to dance with heel protectors which will not only protect the heel but will also increase its surface and thus give you a better sense of balance.

So, how to choose the most suitable dance shoes?

Well, you will have to pay attention to the things listed above: length of your foot, desired heel height, how tight the footwear is, shoe materials and of course the vision.
